Imagine that you are watching a science fiction movie. A starship is disabled in an attack. After the transfer of the crew to the alien ship, the alien invaders begin to change the atmosphere inside the ship to meet their biological requirements. As they do so, the ship's hull suddenly and unexpectedly gives way and the ship "explodes." In terms of air pressure, explain why this might have happened.

They increased the air pressure in order to provide a "normal" environment for themselves, which exceeded the capacity of the spaceship's building materials to maintain structural integrity.

Or, they DECREASED the pressure too much, which could have the same effect, except that it was really an implosion and not an explosion. I think that's why "explodes" was in quotes, and the hull "gives way" - though it doesn't say whether the hull is collapsing in or bursting out.

It would not work either way because if the aliens needed that much of a dramatically different atomospheric pressure then the humans and aliens could never even be on the same ship. Or the humans would die as soon as they were transfered to the alien ship.

because its the demand of the script

ok ok
because the alien atmosphere may be cool as compared to the outer atmosphere which was hot due to sun or due to friction so the body expands and contracts at the same time and blast occur
