Embleys Nursery is probably the largest plant nursery in Lancashire.
They have a huge range of trees and shrubs, including lots of conifers. They also do hedging plants, which may be helpful to you. Thy're based in Much Hoole, Preston, Lancs.

Leyland cypress is the fastest grower that you're likely to find, but it can be a problem tree that can prove expensive and anti-social if it gets out of hand.

Thuja is a similar evergreen that is more tolerant of poor pruning or mistakes, so may make a better option.

Holly of course is a British native and a relatively fast grower once established. It can be pruned hard too, so it can take shaping well.

Yew is slower growing but responds extremely well to hard pruning. If it is given a good, well cultivated and conditioned trench with added rotted manure it can put on a foot of growth in a year.

All trees need some cultivation and regular pruning to get the best results from them.

You might find this web address a help for info on the plants.

Hope you have every success in making a good choice.

Leylandii cupress are very fast growing and will make the perfect hedge .If it is trimmed every year to keep it to about 6 feet high it will not grow into a monster and annoy the neighbours.
