I am going to use ^ for a power, ex. 2 to the 3 power is 2^3

1. 5*3^-3
3^-3=1/(3^3), so
5*(1/(3^3))=
5/(3^3)=
5/27

2. NO
3^2*5^2-4^2+1=
9*25-16+1=
210
3^2(5^2-4^2)+1=
9(25-16)+1=
9(9)+1=
82

5 x 3 ^ -3 = 5 / 3^3 = 5/27

3^2 x 5^2 - 4^2 +1 = 9 x 25 - 16 + 1 = 225 - 16 + 1 = 210
3^2 (5^2 - 4^2) + 1 = 9 (25 - 16) + 1 = 9 (9) + 1 = 81 + 1 = 82

5 * 3^-3
5 * 1/27=
5/27

3^2 * 5^2 - 4^2 + 1
9 * 25 +16 + 1

(-4*-4)=+16 if you have ever heard of change change use that it helps a lot trust me ^.^

225 + 17 = 242

3^2 (5^2 - 4^2) + 1

9 (25 +16) + 1

9 (41) + 1

369 + 1 = 370................These don't equal each other because the parenthesis change the normal order of operation.

if you don't know how change change works then here is and example..............
4 - 9 =
chang the - to + - and it helps a lot more to know that one of the numbers is negative and just deal with adding..........
4 + -9 = -5 tada ^.^ i hope this helped

You're going to need to know how to do this for the test!

For the first one, multiply 5 x 3 first, then put it all to the -3 power. Does your teacher allow you to use a calculator?

For the second one, write both problems using the different associations indicated by the parentheses. If you get the same answer for each, the values are the same, and the reason is that the answer for each side is the same. If the answers are different, they do not have the same value and the reason is that the answers for each side are different.

135
5*25 = 125 + 5*2= 135
did it in my head and it was easier when i broke it up.

no they are not the same because multiplication is done before addition unless brackets are involved. so in the second one you would subtract before multiplying and in the first you would multiply before subtracting. (math laws) As the question just askes if they are the same result a simple answer of "NO" works for me.

Sorry was wrong on the first one missed the minus sign. it would be 5/27
