I am currently working full time and i want to get a new job. If the new job calls me for an interview, how do I make time for it as I am working full time in my current job? Should I call sick or something like that?

I would take a personal or sick day if you have it availiable. Otherwise try to request a day off if that is possible two weeks in advance if you know you will have a job interview coming up. Also see if they will schedule the interview during hours that you are not working, something you could do maybe after or before your current job. Just some ideas, GL.

You can try a few tactics that worked for me:
1. Use your cell phone for all potential job calls
2. Create a buddy system so someone can cover for your absence
3. Try to schedule interviews during lunch
4. Try to schedule interviews around the time you need to leave work, possibly a few hours earlier
5. Try to call in sick but this is dangerous if you are interviewing in an area close to your current job
6. Above all, do not let your boss know you are hunting unless you've already spoken with them about this and they are flexible with it. This is highly doubtful since you will probably still need them as a reference so, do not burn this bridge!

Good luck!

Hey....they are right...either use a personal/vacation day to do it---my employer lets me use 1/2 or full days off...some only allow full days....either that or make up an excuse of being sick and you need to go home...or that you have a doctors appt. If you're a female that's easy to fake even if you don't have anything wrong with you...cuz of our yearly exams we get "hint hint". That's the best way to do it. Or if you think it's a short interview, do it over lunch!

Definitely do it on a sick/personal/vacation day -- if you have to do it during a work day, they will probably notice, especially if you don't normally dress up at your current job!

If you can choose when you go to lunch I'd schedule it then. Otherwise, before your work, or after, or on your day off. Employers realize that people have jobs and that it is good policy not to lie or to blow your cover.

Either a sick day or a personal day (vacation day). That's the only way to do it.
