I'm trying to order a webcam from Amazon.com and the site does not really describe the product in depth. I've never had a webcam before and so have no idea about the differences between the different kinds. My main question is if audio is a standard feature on ALL webcams or do I need to buy one specifically with sound?

not all webcams have microphones...if amazon doesn't say then your best bet is to go to the vendor's website and check their specs or see if a local store carries it and check it out before amazoning it :)

No the ones with sound cost around £30 and the ones without is about £15

ive never seen a webcam with a audio feature. thats a microphone. you would need both i presume.

Not all webcams have microphones...
So if this is something you want, make sure it says something about it, if not I would think that cam doesn`t have audio.

no. i have an older creative labs cam that does not have sound at all. i also have a newer logitech cam that only has sound on the headset that came with it. the sound is not on the cam itself.
the creative labs cam is about 7 years older than the logitech cam and oddly enough, has much better picture quality.

no, not all webcams have sound, BUT if you have a microphone in/attached to your computer, you would not need a webcam w/microphone.
