The snow is so high the furnace went out. Can extend it and what would I need to do that? Would it cause carbon monoxide poisoning?

Yes you can extend it. First you need to determine what type of pipe (or PVC) it is, and extend it with a similar product of the correct size.

B-vent (double wall) comes in various lengths; adjustable, 1', 2', 3', 4', and 5'.

Single-wall metal pipe and PVC can be easily cut to size.

Remember - metal exhaust pipe must have a termination cap on the end (Try to get a high-wind type).

It's very unlikely that CO would be a problem.

If the snow is that high on your roof, you might want to look into getting some of that snow off before your roof collapses.

I would contact whoever makes your heater for assitance but usually you can add shutes and stuff to an existsing system without the threat of CO2 poisoning.
