Ok, here is my dilemma, I used to play WoW all the time and then I had to move (Sick mother, large house, needed help for rent...long story) Needless to say.....the place only has Dial-up and the phone lines running out to the house are to old to provide high speed connections. No cable companies run out there either.

So, can WoW be played succesfully on DIal up or should I go for my other otion which is sattelite. That aslo poses the problem of
a) it's expensive ($600 for equipment and install)
b) I have heard the connection can be lost in bad weather
c) Something called a Fair Access plan which limits your DL/UL capabilities if you use it too much

So the final question is, WoW on dial up....still fun or lags so much you'll beat the crap out of your computer?

I am running 2ghz processor, 1g of ram and I forget my graphix card but i know it supports it. I also have not played for a year....i dread the patch download already but if i can play it will be worth it.

Blizzard themselves list 56k dial-up as the minimum which in games normally means that you can just play the game, but you can just not enjoy the game. I would recommend you switch to another game, because I satellite also has latency issues (>1 sec) which will translate into huge in-game lag. So of the 2 options you have probably dial-up is even the best and it's not good enough unless you're not on a PvP server and are not part of a raiding guild where a reasonable response time is crucial and lag can kill.

Yeesh...trust me on this...I was stuck with dialup for a while when I first started playing, and it was all lag, all the time...made the game very unenjoyable...you run off cliffs, let mosters run away...not to mention the joyful experience of being with a group in a dungeon and not being able to keep up your end of the DPS....
You're computer will run it, but with a dialup connection, you won't have fun anymore...
Sorry, that totally sucks...I hope your mom gets better too!!!
