remember the subject of the poem does not have to be about love... I think that subject is highly overrated.... hey but if your favorite poem is a love poem then its fine to put it here. My favorite poem personally (the 1st one that comes to mind anyways:) is one of Emily Dickinson..... Success is tasted sweetest by those who never succeed, to taste a nectar requierest sorest need........ :) I dont know it word for word....... I just remember a few words so my bad if its not word for word but I always like the message of that poem about how people who never succeed savor or appreciate success the best. I especially like the example she gives in her poem.... about a mortally wounded soldier left to die in the battlefield... who listens and hears the cheers of his enemies who have claimed war victory. That poem is my favorite.... which one is yours?

I have several I like though I don't always remember the author. 1. "Richard Cory", a poem that is dark but thoughtful, where the last line throws you for a loop. Not all is as it seems.
2." Once in Persia reigned a king.... "another one that has some good truism for life.
3.Joyce Kilmer's "The House with Nobody in it", one of my personal favorites.
4. Finally, "The Owl and the Pussycat". A delightful poem ful of fun and great lines.
Enjoy!

The Blues in Your Own Backyard

Love my onion rings,
Love me. Here they come,
Those big thirty-year-old feelings.
The rain on the holiday, the meat ruined on the grill.

Put the beer in the freezer to bring it up to speed.
Turn the radio on. Come lie in the sun, warm
In the certainty no teen ever makes it out
Alive from a Shangri-La's song.

Listen, the killer's childhood friend
Says he's brought the amazing Florida ****.
Come midnight, our luck will be visibly changed.
We'll put the flame to the punk and the punk to the fuse —

I'll never have sex in this town again.
So tonight, I'm flaming. The hottest thing
Evolving on wheels, and I'll be crashing all your barbecues
On my way to the stars.

I just love some of imagery in this poem, it is amazing, and it reminds me of quite a few events of my life.

I find poetry that you write yourself can reveal thoughts so deep you did not know you had them. They can reach deep inside your soul, and when you are sad they can bring emotions to the surface to deal with so you can move on.
It can make you smile or make you cry.
You will learn more about who you really are by writing a poem than than you can imagine .Try it today whether you are happy ,mad or sad .It can be just for you or to share.
