Has anyone heard this attempted logic?

Does that mean you can not disaprove of the war in iraq unless you are in the military?

Are you not aware that the vast majority of the military personel support the actions in iraq? Are you not aware that the vast majority of the millitary personel support the republican party?

With your warped logic;
Are you allowed to support a football team without being on the team?

I've seen people post that here, and I also just received an angry email from someone saying that.

Speaking as a veteran I resent people in the administration like Bush and Cheney who made a choice NOT to serve in Vietnam sending others over to fight a war that they are personally profiting from. The vast majority of military personnel no longer supports the war or the Republican party.

Different context. Your football team logic is flawed for the obvious reason that you cannot choose to be on the team. You may choose to join the military and you may choose to support sending your children to Iraq. I think what those people who use this logic are trying to convey is that if you support the war and there is an opportunity for you to physically engage yourself in war related activities then it is obviously your duty to do so. If you support the war but are unwilling to make the sacrifices the war requires but would rather someone else make the sacrifieces, then there is something wrong with you and your support of the war is based on something with little respectability. For example, if you are a Halliburton stock holder you would most certainly support the war but you may not support it because you think its noble and grand to support the spread of our type of democracy. You support it because it makes sense financially for yourself, given that I doubt very much that the war supporting Halliburton stock holder would like to see their children fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan. As far as your saying most military personnell support the war the percentage is 60%. Of course you'd expect more supporters in this group. Most Americans, having finally been educated enough on the grand catastrophic failure of the administration in their handling of the war and its illegal basis to begin with, do not support the war yet must finance it none the less.

This makes no sense anyway you look at it. We have people who support the war in all walks of life, including Democrats and people not in the armed services. And there are personnel in the armed services and Republicans who don't support the war. Its easy enough to clump all things together but in reality more and more Republicans aren't fans of whats going on, and as time goes by more of them are wondering why our soldiers are dying for what has become a sectarian, civil war, with Iraqis who won't fight for themselves.

Well the way I see it there are always big mouths like you who say support the war but are afraid to wear the uniform and fight. Better yet the biggest excuse is they are too old. Not so anymore. You can be a civilian contractor and help out over there. I say go now. Go as fast as you can or are you CHICKEN?? I'm a Vet I can say these things!! My freedom of speech has been earned. Thank you very much and you are so fu(*&ing welcome.

Yes, I've been hearing foolishness like that since before we entered Baghdad, back when the majority of the American public supported the war.
It is a symptom of a disease that America suffers from: SOFT syndrome.
Remember, these are the same people who called our guys "baby killers" during Vietnam.

Where are you getting your information from? From everything I've read and heard Politics flies out the window for the Military when the bullets start whizzing by.

i agree it is a warped way of looking at it. some go overboard with their postings,on both sides. are you not aware there is no way to prove your claims about the military. unless you talk to each and everyone of them personally or follow them into the polls.

statistics change depending on who gathers them. talking to hundreds is not representive of millions.
