It is the development of abnormal cells (usually pre-cancerous) on the surface of the cervix and inside the canal. The treatment is as simple as cauterization, cryo-surgery or simple cutting, or the use of LEEP.

You can find all you want to know on the internet by simply searching the phrase: "cervical displaysia"

FYI - it is HIGHLY treatable, and very survivable. Even if cancer was the cause, it is typically slow-growing and correctable. I should know - I'm a 9-year cervical CANCER survivor.

I just had surgery two months ago (leep) because i had severe displaysia which is the worst stage of pre cancer. the doctor was not completely sure what it was from but a lot of the time it's from the HPV virus.
most of the time it goes away on it's own, or the doctor will do what is called...don't remember the name but what it does is freeze the cells on the cervix, i had this done twice but it didn't work:( so i had to have the laser surgery. I go back in February for a pap test to see if the surgery worked and then go every three months for the next year or two.
if you can, try and go to the doctor every six months the sooner they can treat it the better off you'll be.
if you or Mary have any question about the surgery don't hesitate to ask.
Best Wishes!

The first thing my search engine pulled up after fixing the spelling:

Overview
Cervical dysplasia is a term used to describe the appearance of abnormal cells on the surface of the cervix, the lowest part of the uterus. These changes in cervical tissue are classified as mild, moderate, or severe. While dysplasia itself does not cause health problems, it is considered to be a precancerous condition. Left untreated, dysplasia sometimes progresses to an early form of cancer known as cervical carcinoma in situ, and eventually to invasive cervical cancer.

I just learned that I have it....there is a ton of info on the web but I'm still on here everyday asking more questions. Currently freaking out....I have to have lesions removed that are precancerous. The "C" word is just scary because I'm only 24. If you need someone to talk through going through the same thing...email me. All the best

I do know that it can kill if left untreated. Also try emu oil gel caps, this product is good at killing cancer cells. Also go to your doctor and get checked.
