Can I ask a college friend to edit my book?? Should I pay her for her work? She is one of the main characters in my book, and she is about the only person I really want to see my book before it is out on the market unless I get a real editor. I honestly do not want my parents to see it because it does have fluffy romance stuff in it.

What do you think??

Any ideas on how to get a real editor??

I wrote and published two books and found the best editors were not paid for. My niece fresh from graduating done a far better job than the so called editors.

Yes, of course you can ask a friend to edit it for you, but I don't really advise it. I think the only person who can edit your book is you. Once you read it again you will be able to tell where you made mistakes or what you can improve on. If you ask someone else to do that though, then there will no longer be your ideas in your book, someone else's ides will be in it.

At least that's what I think, that the best person who can edit your book is you.

Of course you can ask a friend to edit your book. And yes, you should pay her to do that. But remember that, if you are a serious writer, even your closest friend is just another reader. If you are serious, you are far better off enlisting a professional writing coach such as writehigh.com.
