Hey I download Boston and other Rock songs daily. I'm no cyber criminal. Its legal only if you don't sell copy's.

Technically, making a copy is generally illegal. Making a copy and selling for profit is criminal. However, if you're using it for a rehearsal, and you own a copy of this work, or you're using it for background to choreograph something, that may constitute a "fair use" or even may be authorized under your license when you bought the thing in the first place.

So my answer is, it's likely legal in this situation, but I wanted to clear up the point that, just because you're not selling music, doesn't make it legal for you to copy and distribute.

I'll say it again, since there are SO many people who are getting it wrong:
COPYING MUSIC AND DISTRIBUTING IT WITHOUT A LICENSE IS NOT LEGAL. It can get you hauled into court for a civil suit by the Copyright owners (usually big music studios) for damages of thousands of dollars per infringement. Same with using any file sharing software like Morpheus or whatever it used now. However, it is CRIMINAL to pirate and make money off of the pirating activities. You can be charged by the government and spend time in jail or get a hefty fine.

completely unlawful. it is generally accepted which you will reproduction track you have offered in case you do it purely on your guy or woman use. as an occasion, you may reproduction songs from a CD on your transportable MP3 participant. or you may convert all your previous archives and tapes to digital format to play on your computing device or on CD. yet once you initiate giving copies of track to human beings then you certainly've crossed the line of what's legal. the solid information is that the Recording marketplace association of u.s. will often provide help to settle out of courtroom by using paying the association countless thousand money. That way, you will not have criminal record or do any penal complex time.

If it is not copyrighted and has absolutely no restrictions whatsoever then it is probably ok.
Some websites charge a fee to burn but the free burning websites are not (at least I don't think they are) legal.
The CD case should say whether you are allow to copy or not!

Technically, it's not legal, but DON'T WORRY! You already have the right idea, and you're absolutely right! LOTS of people burn CDs that they borrow and like (I have a friend who does it for me), and, like you said, as long as you're not selling them or broadcasting them in public for sales, you should have no problem!

No it is not illegal to burn a cd! The only instance in which it does become illegal is if you burn them and distribute them for money! so, in this case it is NOT ILLEGAL!
