Don't worry its not an MOT fail, If your Beemer is drove by two or more people of different leg lengths and the seat is pushed back and forward regularly the sensor under the seat probably needs resetting had mine reset a few times my local garage only charged me £5 but some will charge up to £20 so ask around before having it done.

It was NOT an MOT fail when this question was asked,2008, but it has since BECOME an MOT fail- I have the same problem in my BMW 318i 1999. The BMW Manual states that the warning AIRBAG light on dash means thatt the airbag has been tuned off manually in the passenger side..

airbag warning is not an MOT fail, the common cause of airbag warning light on is a high resistance in the underseat connectors. try disconnecting the connectors cleaning and maybe just a little wd40 in the connections, not too much as it could cause the rubber seals to swell and push the connector apart. This is a good remedy for most Rovers out there too.
Good Luck

Its a common problem on the bmw 3 series, normally either the sensor main unit, or if fitted its the sensor on the chair. ( in my case its the sensor on the chair, ive had it reset a few times, but it never lasts.) As for the Mot airbags don't even come into it, so unless your really worried, or have a habbit of hitting or being hit by things id just ignore it.

To the triumphing concepts of a foul door change (they generally fail any opposite direction) and the dashboard dimmer change (the acute "on" position activates the dome mild on many autos/autos) be positive that you haven't got a guide turn on the mild itself it truly is damaged or only in the incorrect position.
