Do you consider it as rap made between 1990-2007, 1994-2007, 1997-2007, or 2000-2007? I, in my opinion, consider it as 1997-2007, because it is the most current. Furthermore, I think of the old school as 1979-1994 and the mid school as 1994-1997.

Rap was really good throughout the 80's and early 90's. The east coast rap was true rapping. Rap started to really get crappy when the west coast tossed in all of the b*tches and ho's and murder and crime and gangbanging. So I guess new school, or the end of rap started in about 1992 when the west coast lyrics started hitting the airwaves. Gangsta Rap is pure bullcrap and has caused a lot of unnecessary bloodshed.
Although I did like Doggystyle, The Chronic and Death Certificate....the rest of that west coast crap was a waste of brain space. And don't even get me started on that fake a** Marshall Mathers....

Tupac would be new school, Slick Rick would be old school.
