The best place to go for your Chinese New Year (CNY) shopping is Chinatown. There are stalls already set-up and they are selling decorative and candies. Also, you may want to visit CK, they have lots of cheap CNY thingy.

You may also want to try some of the neighbourhood shopping malls or shops. They have also started selling CNY thingy.

At this moment, it is advisable to get those decorative for house decor for CNY. The red packets you may also want to get them or you can get them from the banks. Other perishable items, it is advisable to get it one week before the actual event.

If you are daring enough, you may want to go into JB. Some of these shopping centres and night markets, they do have cheap and nice stuff.

usually people go to chinatown to do their CNY shopping as many stalls selling festive goodies are setup there. The stalls are located near the chinatown building(now under construction).
the usual stuff to buy are pineapple tarts, barbecue meat (bau qua), pistachio nuts(kai xin guo), gua zi, sweets, drinks, etc.
hope this helps cheers
