I got married to my beautiful girl in September '06 :-)
Well ok...it's called a Civil Partnership..which is what is available to gay/lesbian couples here in the UK.
But we had a ceremony which was exactly like a heterosexual wedding in pretty much every way, and the civil partnership is like marriage in every way, it's just called something different!

And fyi, my partner is American, and she had to leave her home and family behind to come and live here in the UK with me, because our relationship is not recognised by the US federal government, as far as they're concerned she and I are not legally bound in any way. We are as good as strangers to them.
Basically, i couldnt go and live with her, because she fell in love with and married a woman instead of a guy. Had i been a guy, there would have been no problem in me moving there!
Someday i hope the discrimination will end.

I probably won't see it in my life time, mine is a little more complicated than "same sex marriage" as I'm with a FTM, and it would therefore be considered a heterosexual marriage, but ks does not recognize transgenders and hys BirthCertificate would still say female.....soooooooo

anyways....

The only reason I would hope for marriage is so if my partner goes to ICU I can be there for hym, if hy has died, they HAVE to notify me. I do not want to be a legal stranger to my partner.

I applaud all those that have been together for any length of time! Congratulations!

Someday, someway, yes.(that means get the Official Legal recognition/rights. As far as the rest is concerned I already have been for over 6 years now).

Spiritually and emotionally, we already have been for the past ten years and with any luck we'll be for three times that many to come!

As far as legal recognition...I'd hope so.
