Congratulations!!! Yes of course you should be excited. I was elated when I found out I was pregnant with my second. I was only about 2 or 3 weeks along. I didn't want to get out of control excited because I knew that it is a very fragile time. The first tri-mester is the most fragile. But just take it easy and I think you will be fine. I am now 3 months along and am having my 1st ultrasound in Febuary. The first one is just to make sure the baby is okay and your doing okay. I will be honest and say for you it might be a vaginal ultrasound....just to prepare you. I say that because you don't hear the heartbeat until the 10-12 week marker. So with that being said they will likely do a vaginal ultrasound. Good luck to you and I'm sure you will make a wonderful mommy!!! Congrats again!!

I know the excitement you are feeling. Me and my husband tried for SO long too! We are pregnant with our first as well.

It is normal to worry about somethign happening to your baby...and as hard as it seems to be, try to relax.

At your first ultrasound, you will most likely fill out alot of paperwork, and possibly get an ultrasound. The ultrasound (it will be a vaginal ultrasound...everything is too small to see on a reg 'on top the belly' kind right now). You will be about 6 or 7 weks by then (I think), and there is a possibility that you might be able to SEE the heart beat on an ultrasound. (it looks like a tiny flashing spot in your uterus). It will not be able to be heard at this point. HOWEVER, with that being said...keep in mind that you may NOT be able to see a heartbeat at that point as well. Sometimes it takes a little longer (like 8 or 9 weeks) to see the heartbeat. So do not get yourself in a panic if you do have an ultrasound and do not find a heartbeat. OK? :) The ultra sound confirms a pregnancy and also helps the docs see if it is a single pregnancy or if you will be havign twins, etc.

Also, after a heartbeat is found, the chances of miscarriage drop drastically...however miscarriage is possible at any point in pregnancy. But again...dont fret if they dont fnd a heartbeat at 6 or 7 weeks (if they even attempt to find it then)...they may just schedule you for an ultrasound at a later date to ensure finding one.

You will also have some blood work done most likely. They also might have you pee in a cup to check your urine.

Being able ot relate to you (after tryign so hard/long to get pregnant), I want to reccommend a book to you...go to the library and get it if you can not buy it...it is called "YOur Pregnancy Week by Week"...and it will not only tell you abotu what is going on with your baby, but it will also show you pictures, and even show a picture of your babys ACTUAL size, whcih I found to be VERY cool! It is WAY better than the "What to Expect When You are Expecting" series!

Good luck to you girl...and CONGRATS!!!!!!

Congratulations! Of course it normal to be excited!

I am finally pregnant with my first after trying for 3 and a half years, so I know just how you feel! Yay!

I had an early ultrasound to confirm that it was a viable pregnancy (after trying for so long, my o.b. wanted to be absolutely sure). When you see that tiny little bean, with a little blip of a heartbeat going like crazy, you'll feel like it's an absolute miracle.

Enjoy!

I'm very happy for you. It's unfair that people who really want a baby have to try so hard. I'm 21 weeks, I became pregnant after 2 weeks off of birth control. I'm still a little nervous and apprehensive, but I'm sure it will pass as soon as I see my baby. Sometimes I do get excited when he kicks me though! I have my fingers crossed for you, hope everything goes okay.

Why does your healthcare professional want to set off? It appears like she's doing large on her own, she's no longer late and exertions is going to start up for real very quickly. i do not realize inductions for no reason. certainly, if she's gotten 5 cm walking round smiling, it truly is 5cm she would not ought to get by ability of intense, painful contractions. that is sweet, no longer undesirable. for sure you should do what you sense is ideal, yet i have been by ability of an induction and that isn't any picnic. If i became on your situation, i might want to refuse the induction, a minimum of for some days and see what got here about.

Of COURSE it is normal to be that excited, but PLEASE try to temper your excitement, NOT because it will do something to the baby (it won't), but any OB will tell you you are still in the volatile stage of pregnancy. Personal advice, don't run around telling everybody. I hate to say this, and please don't take it the wrong way, but IF something happens early, say before 10 weeks, trust me, you do NOT want to UNTELL people. It is agony.

But yes, giggle and be completely elated, write down names and look at clothes and dream all you want! I am very happy for you. CONGRATULATIONS!
And, right now, it's ok to do the cartwheels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol - it's o.k.! Congratulations. You are going to be fine, the baby is going to be fine, and you are going to be a GREAT mommy. I know this becuase I was the same way when I first found out I was pregnant.

Just eat right, sleep, get some excercise everyday, don't smoke, drink or do drugs... And get as educated as you can on pregnancy and parenting.
