I tried to watch it with an open mind. I really did. But despite some decent acting, I just thought the whole thing was unconvincing, depressing, and didn't generate much sympathy for the characters or their situation. Was I the only one? Most movie critics fawned over it like it was the second coming of The Godfather or something, and everyone acted surprised when it didn't win Best Picture at the Oscars.

I completely agree with you
all you have to do to generate oscar hype is make a movie about something completely taboo (e.g. gay cowboys), and all of a sudden it becomes "art", and the bandwagoners begin to chant oscar

I liked the idea of the movie... but not itself.... i think there isn't any plot in the story and i felt i was watching a documentary of the lives of a gay couple.... i expected more from it... at least much action or suspense... or something that would captured my mind... instead, all i wanted was to finish the movie so i could say that i watch it... but didnt really interested me and i'm not shocked it didnt won best pic...

No not at all.I think it is a wonderful film, and to the contrary, I felt you could definitely sympathize with all those characters.Beautifully directed and should have won best picture.

Jake and Heath were totally non-convincing and the entire movie just seemed long
