I agree with the guy that said Jimmy Carter. I don't know if he would qualify (because he's dead now), but Charles Kuralt is a big role model of mine. He's relatively "modern" compared to some of my other role models, like Abraham Lincoln. Bill Gates could be a role model for some.

So in that respect, I like him because people can see that Blacks can do something other than rap or play basketball

Role models are a thing of the past. Because in the past the media turned it's head when good people did bad things. Which made it easier to keep respect for public figures. Current famous people are under a microscope. The negative things they do get more attention then the positive things. Kids are acustom to this though. They say things like, "When I grow up I want to play football like Peyton Manning." Kids used to say, "When I grow up I'm gonna be just like Johnny Unitus."

Yes, Carter is a strong one. Also Stephen Lewis, who has done a lot to focus attention on the need for better prevention and treatment of AIDS in Africa.
