trek round your local theatres, asking for contact details of locally based theatre companies. Ring them up, and ask how you can get involved. Dont just do musicals to start with, be prepared to do any kind of theatre, as this will all be invaluable experience. Be willing to be chorusline if you dont get a main musical role. turn up, learn, enjoy it! And eventually you can move up the scale a bit. takes time though, but good luck!

Where in the North? I have a drama class on a Saturday morning near Sunderland.
I went to Sunderland University and did my degree which included acting and Music, and had loads of musical theatre in it. Get as much experience as you can in both acting and music and try to get a qualification. That would be a good start. If i knew where you lived I could perhaps help more
Why do you think time is running out for you?

I don't know about your area but I would start with the community theater. You will learn what it takes to put on a show. Theatre is a lot more than just being a good singer. It is a lot of work but having that kind of experience will go a long way and it is a great way to feel good about something.

I have to say first that trying to make a living as a performer is a HUGE gamble, but it sounds like you've made up your mind.
Get into performing any way that is available. Build a reputation and a name for yourself. Eventually, you'll land a paying gig. Hire an agent and build from there. If you work hard, have a lot of talent and a lot of luck, you MIGHT make it to Broadway.
Just remember that while anything is possible, it's a one in a million shot.

Whenever I go on holiday, there are tremendous singing acts at the hotels in the evenings, goes to prove you are not unique. Buy a copy of the Stage and look for forthcoming auditions, sounds you have no experience though, how old are you.

find a tutor - get coached in acting, singing and above all dancing - if you can't dance you won't even get looked at
