he washes dishes and does laundry every now and then?

i'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks there's nothing wrong with doing some chores. My soon to be ex husband would always say a man's job is to work, make the money and do "guy" chores, not to help out with dishes and things like that..

I forgot to add that he had no job when he said this and he was waiting for his unemployment to expire before looking for a job. at the time i had a 1 1/2 yr old, full time job and class at night

There's nothing wrong at all, it really doesn't matter who does the work, just as long as it gets done & everyone does their share.

Well if your soon-to-be ex-husband makes good money that allows you to stay home and not work and take care of the children (if you have them) then I'd say he's right - you can't expect him to kill the calf and cook it too. However, if you also have a job outside of the home, then you both should share in the household chores - though there are some chores that I consider men and women jobs. I wouldn't ask my fiance to wash dishes and clean the toilet bowel all the time - but neither do I want to put the trash out, fix under the bathroom sink or mow the lawn. Its supposed to be a partnership, if everyone does his or her part, then it should work fine.

No, not if he wants clean dishes and clothes. A man did these things before getting a wife. My husband likes doing chores like that because he likes a clean home

No, I think it's darling when my husband helps me with dishes. But in our family, I am self-appointed dish washer and laundry do-er. My husband is really busy, and he is in charge of projects that I would never dream of doing - like plumbing, elecrtical work, fixing things, home improvement. Compared to that, my work is easy, I can't complain. I'll take the "women's job" of doing laundry and dishes any day instead of crawling up in the attic pulling cable for the new can lights in the kitchen.

As a guy, no I don't. And I do the dishes and laundry. My wife and I both do. It's part of sharing the household chores, and I also help clean the house.

I think it is great. I wish more men did so. My husband also washes, cooks and clean the house. He also crys as well and there is nothing like a good man showing his emotions. It make me love him even more because he is not concerned that his manhood is an issue. He is the best manly man I ever had, I would not trade him for the world.

For 45 years my lady and I have been doing the dishes together and sharing the laundry chores. I can't conceive of it being any other way

Not at all. My husband does the dishes, cooks, and does the laundry. I actually find it sexy when a man does that. This gives us more time to get busy when I get home. Thank you and have a great day.

In a relationship everything is shared. There is nothing wrong with a man HELPING OUT around the house. The only things I don't do is the windows & dust.I'm REALLY BAD at both. The windows look worse & I don't move things when I dust so those are left up to the lady.

A man is not "less manly" if he helps do the dishes and laundry. It is probably more of a sign of maturity, and a sign of caring enough to help. If he were single, he'd hopefully be doing them more often than "occasionally".

I hope not, those were the chores I took. I do the dishes, laundry and mow the yard, wife cleans the bathroom, vacuums and generally tidies up.

If it is unmanly to do dishes and laundry, then every single guy is unmanly.
