Just the sheer beauty of Brazil that exudes from the people, the nature, the towns....that's the best thing and that doesn't even scratch the surface! Brazil is a living breathing place that everyone ought to experience before they die. While I agree with others that have posted that the poverty is bad, it is, but the people I have met that live in these small wooden shacks still love being alive, they work hard and take care of their children. I would say that the corruption of the government is the absolute worst thing......

I think the best AND worst thing in Brazil would be Rio de Janiero. On the waterfront area and downtown it's beautiful, especially Sugarloaf Mountain in the harbor, but the inner city part of Rio is poverty-stricken and crime-ridden, with tin and wooden shacks in place of proper housing.
Rio is definitely a two-faced city.

The people are so friendly but the best part is the smell of the air when you are in the country. I have been three times and I always look forward to getting off the plane and smelling the scent that is in the air. As far as terrible...I can't really say anything except for the public restrooms in Americas Square, downtown Sao Paulo.

The courteousness of the folk in spite of some of the conditions they find themselves in.
The national isolation from the rest of the world.
Personally I liked traveling there.

The best is the people who I would say are the friendliest in the world. The worst is rush hour traffic and crime and violence.

Best: Natural beauty/ the people who are the friendliest and happiest, I've ever met.
Worst:Without a doubt, poverty...Crimes would be down if poverty wasn't so prevalent.
