Babies don't need water. They get all the fluids they need in proper formula/breastmilk. There used to be the idea that if your baby was formula fed, it needed extra water but it's not true. The water fills their tiny bellies and makes them feel full, so they don't eat as much and can lack in nutrition.
I introduced water to my children early and they love it but not a 5 months when the majority of their nutrition comes from breastmilk/formula. I started water in a sippy cup at 9 months.

i have a six year old and a six month old and gave them both water, i was never told not to, when they get the hiccups i sometimes give them a little water instead of formula to make them go away, and besides if you use powdered formula you are mixing it with water. i say it's fine so don't over do it, say maybe 2-3 oz is ok once a day every couple a days

It all depends on the era you raised your children. In my time, it was fine to give your baby water, warm water helped move the gas or constipation. I would use a bottled water.
However - I have since been informed that everything I was taught to do for my babies, isn't right. It is amazing my children survived according to the new rules and regs.
call your Dr.'s office, ask his nurse practitioner.

I have 4 children and they have all been given water. As long as it is pre boiled and cooled to room temperature they should be no problem. Baby food manufacturers even make flavoured water so it must be safe.

Baby needs water after starting to eat baby foods. Before that, they get everything from breastmilk or formula UNLESS it's hot enough that they are sweating...they need to replace those fluids lost....also if vomiting or diarrhea, but in that case, talk to doctor...they may recommend pedialyte.

you can give a baby water, but not instead of formula/breast milk. If your baby seems to need "a little extra" then water is a good solution. I give my newborn water because he likes to eat and it helps with his gas, but I didn't give it to my 2 older children becasue they didn't need it.

its fine to give him water. just make sure its at room temperture and the baby doesn't need to drink a whole lot of it. 1 or 2 oz is enough, your baby gets all the nutrition it needs from breastmilk or formula.

You can give the baby water but make sure you boil it first then allow it to cool so you boil out the impurities and parasites that babies are more sensitive to than adults and older children are.
