Any of those places seem nice. I would include the Bahamas in that grouping. But I would suggest checking on the "season" during the time you plan to be there and making sure it isn't prime hurrican season! That would be a sure way to ruin a honeymoon!

Puerto Rico is beatiful but not safe at all. Just in January there were more than 100 murders. Last year, there were approximately 1,000. And we are talking about an island the size of a big city, only 100 miles by 35 miles. I left the island in 2000. Wanted to come back, but then my daughter was born in 2004. I do not want to raise my daughter in that environment, so I am not going back. Jamaica, is weedheaven. They even help pay the country's debt by selling drugs mostly to Denmark or other drug legal countries. It is a beatiful as PR and a little safer. People are not rude to tourist, they are rude to everyone. It is kind of their thing. It is mostly cultural thing. The tribes that were taken there were mostly Zulus, which as you know were warrior to begin with. They are very closed minded and don't fool around. Once they open, they are your best friends. Costa Rica would be the spot to relax and have a comparatively safe honeymoon. I say comparatively because there are always the guerrillas from adjacent countries that are in the business of abducting american tourist. Even then, it is safer than PR and Jamaica.

My husband and I stayed in Jamaica (Montego Bay) for our honeymoon and I have to say it was just beautiful!!! Although it does have its rough spots but it was quite interesting seeing how the Jamaicans live, it is quite different then what you see here in the US. I have a friend that stays in Aruba for a week every year and she loves it. My advice is to stay at a resort, like Sandals...Then you and your wife can venture out into the cities and see the culture. But when all is said and done, you are safe and relaxed back at the resort. Good luck and congratulations!

Aruba. It is not so congested . Jamaica has a lot of crime. Aruba- there are beaches where you hardly see anyone.

I went to Hawaii( Oahu ) recently and it was beautiful but so many people and congested.

Stay out of Jamaica...

My choice would be Aruba, Bonaire, or Curacau, They are not to be missed

Why not go on a cruise and visit a lot of places in the Caribbean? No worries on hotel, food and plus the romance factor of the ship. I had the same dilemma, and this solved it all.

Try the Sandals Beach Resort chain. They are located throughout the carribean and they offer first class service, with romanitic settings and it is for couples only.
