My impression was that Frodo was so changed by his journey and the influence of the ring that he just couldn't return back to his hobbit life. He stayed in Hobbiton for a few years while he wrote his book, but he never could return back to the time when he didn't have the knowledge he has now about power and the outer world. He went with the elves to the undying lands because those people would be a better fit for him now.

Gandalf went...because he wanted to go. He had good rapport with the elves, and perhaps there was nothing more for him on Middle Earth.

Elves don't die apparently. Bilbo, Frodo and Gandolf all had to go with the elves to the Grey Havens. Where they were to live out the rest of their lives. Bilbo and Frodo had both been Ring Bearers and would have unnaturally long lives, even for the oldest of Hobbits. Gandolf the Grey had died and been resurrected as The White Wizard so death was a 'push' for him. Nothing else going on in Middle Earth, Frodo and Sam had taken care of the neighborhood bully.

I think that the elves were trying to escape from all of the wickedness. At the end of the movie, Bilbo, Gandolph, and Froto were getting on the boat w/ the elf king so that they, too, could go live eternally in peace. (Can we get on a boat too? Lol)

The symbolism of this is "Heaven" Both Frodo and Bilbo Baggins are going to the afterlife Bilbo due to his advanced age and Frodo because the Journey just took to much out of him....There is speculation that Gandalf was already "dead" and was just back to aid "mankind" in the final fight against evil before he returned to the afterlife

they are going to the undying lands but others think that because of the immense stress and pain he is in from the stab wound he got from the morgul blade that he is going to die this is reinforced because when he first came back gandalf said he would be there until his job was done and he could not possibly bo going to the undying lands because he was only reincarnated to help aragorn and the rest against sauron personally i h8 the ending od lotr rotk because it leaves to many loose ends that need tieing together
