Don't accept anyone's answer that recommends one because it depends on your face type, what's good for one person may be terrible for the other. I have oily skin and if you do too I would suggest Boots tea tree and witch hazel, it's really good or if you have dry/normal skin use boots no7 soft and smooth cleanser.

But they're just guidelines, decide on the type of your skin first and then shop around to see what suits you, use this website to help you decide on your skin type:

Or you could go to your dermatologist and they will be able to give you advice on what skin type you have. However, they may offer their own products to you which are usually expensive. So just say, "I need to think/ask my parents about it," and then leave, knowing your skin type without having to purchase anything. Works every time!!

Oh yes, and if you want to help get rid of the spots, use something with Benzoyl Peroxide in it, it's clinically proven to seriously reduce zits, no matter how bad they are. I suggest Quinoderm cream - the stuff is amazing and you can buy it over the counter for a really cheap price!

Good luck!

Neutrogena has a good line of products for oily, acne prone skin. It can be somewhat drying so use an oil free moisturizer. (i use clean and clear oil free dual action). I have very oily skin and I have to say, it really works. I have also used Proactive at times, which has worked, but it was drying at times and I couldn't use it when the weather turned cold. (double drying) I also use a prescription for zits called "Benzaclin". I use that if I get a blemish. For dead skin cells, it's important to exfoliate, but not too often. I use a fruit enzyme scrub twice a week (C.O Bigalow from B&B works) If OTC products are not helping, then go see a dermatologist. I had to try a variety of combos before I found a regimen that really worked. Good Luck

I have very sensative skin and everything overdrys my skin and really did nothing for it, but not to long ago I found this stuff from clean and clear called oxygenating fizzing cleanser. Its pretty cool cause it fizzes when it hits the air. after the first time I used it my skin looked much healthier. Other than that to get rid of dead skin cells you could use and exfoliator but only use it about once a week cause that will also really overdry your skin. I use this stuff thats all natural by Belisama Bodyworks its kind of like rubbing dirt or clay on your face but it works and smells good always a plus. Everybodys skin is different but i hope that helps. lol the first half of my responce sounds like a commercial.

try the clinique acne care system. it doesnt dry out your face and it leaves your skin soft and zit free. buy the mild bar soap to get off the dirt and make up from the day, then wash with the cleansing/toning foam, and use the night gel to work while you sleep. the products are not cheap, but they do last a long time if used and stored properly (dont let the bottles tip or let anyone mistaken your facial bar soap for hand soap) if you want something less expensive try the neutrogena acne system. it comes with a mild face wash w/ micro beads and creams for night and day. very important- always moisturize in the morning! good luck!

Just about anything that isn't detergent (soap) based is good for cleansing the skin. "zits" are a fact of life, they are caused by hormonal imbalances in our bodies as well as impurities in the air and greasy foods. What works for one person doesn't always work for another, and depending on whether your skin is super sensitive you can do more harm than good with certain OTC products. I suggest getting "trial" or "sample" sizes of cleansers/acne products and search for one that works for you and your skin type. Also watch what you eat, less burgers and fries and more fish (broiled) and veggies and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

Treatment

Treatments (See also the Agency for Healthcare Quality's summary of evidence report on management of acne) are directed at reducing sebum production, comedone formation, inflammation, and infection (see Fig. 1: Acne and Related Disorders: How various drugs work in treating acne.). Selection of treatment is generally based on severity; options are summarized in Table 2: Acne and Related Disorders: Drugs Used to Treat Acne . Affected areas should be cleansed daily, but extra washing, use of antibacterial soaps, and scrubbing confer no added benefit. Changes in diet are also unnecessary and ineffective. Peeling agents such as sulfur, salicylic acid, and resorcinol are minor therapeutic adjuncts

The medical source below should provide information regarding acne (zits); and, the second source below lists some product information. I highly recommend the first source to help you to learn to prevent re occurrences.

I dont believe Zits are caused by dirty skin. I believe its genetic and changes going on in your body determine wether or not you get zits or not. Diet is also an important factor.Eat healthy food and that will help..

why don't you try the regimen: use Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser - day & night; then use a moisturizer w/SPF; at night, use the daily facial cleanser again and after you are finished, use witch hazel -- on a cotton ball and wipe your face in an up motion. you will see the dirt on the cotton ball/square, then repeat with the witch hazel. it should start making your face look better! witch hazel is a natural astringent. good luck.
