Jimmy Carter is a moron. If you read the entire book, and didn't cherry pick your quotes, you see it too.

I think Jimmy Carter has gone off the deep end over the last several years. Many of his own advisers do not agree with his current positions and 14 have resigned because of plagiarism and incorrect thinking in his new book. I find it sad really. I thought Jimmy Carter was a terrible president, but I always respected him because I thought he was an honorable and decent man, but he has now caused me to question even these beliefs. The overall answer to your question is no, I do not believe Jimmy Carter is correct in any of his current assumptions.

Comrade Carter is off his meds. Arab citizens of Israel enjoy precisely the same rights as do their Jewish neighbors. There are Arab members of the Knesset, for God's sake!
Residents of Judea and Samaria (sometimes erroneously referred to as "the Occupied Territories") are in a slightly different situation, but only somewhat. They have complete freedom of religion, they can publish anything they choose (including vitriolic harangues against Israel), they have a parliament, etc...
The only thing they don't have is an independent Palestine. Remember that such a thing could have been accomplished twice already. If the ever-so-peaceful Arabs had not invaded Israel on the day of its independence in 1948, Palestine would soon be celebrating its 60th anniversary as are our Israeli friends. More recently, the Israelis were all set to allow the PA greater autonomy and eventual independence if it would only recognize Israel's right to exist. That's a pretty small demand, but of course the Palestinians didn't want anything to do with it.
The Palestinians are their own worst enemy. They're like spoiled little kids who have never learned the art of compromise.

Jimmy Carter is a boob, and the palestinian version of "human and political rights" is the destruction of Israel, which isn't gonna happen. Or if it does, many other countries will be destroyed within an hour later.

No. Carter did not handle the Middle East well when he was in office so what makes him better now. Remember under him American Hostages were taken and not returned until a president with balls and negotiation skills got into office (Ray Gun knew how to negotiate with terrorist).Israel is not by any means free from uncivilized acts but they sit in the middle of countries that want them dead. The Islamic countries will not leave them alone even if Israel became like the Mother Teresa of all countries.

Well Done Mr President for forcing this disscussion out into the open in spite of the usual accusations of anti semitism. That Phrase has lost it use due to overuse. Most of the people on here probably never read the book and their response is basedon the usual diminished grasp on reality. Brain vegetation is reversable guys. Just stop watching Fox news and the likes.

Isreal is trying that. They allow the Palestinians to elect a government to represent them. They allow the Palestinians to keep thier weapons. They are even willing to negotiate the land issues and disputes beween themselves and the Palestinians. Isreal will never find peace as long as there are people out there who call for its destruction and are unwilling to negotiate or even recognize its existance.
So, Carter is incorrect here as he does not realize that there are plenty of problems the Palestinians must fix to allow for peace as well. It is not totally on Isreal's shoulders to meet all the demands of the Palestinians. Negotiation is give and take. Hamas and Hezbollah are not willing to give, so Isreal has no reason to negotiate with them.

No. Carter has been proven wrong every time he opens his mouth. He is wrong on this too. Israel will never find peace until the Arab world (no such thing a Palestinian) accepts their presence as permanent and leaves them alone.

Absolutely, but I think it goes both ways. However it started, wrongs have been done on both sides of that fight. Both sides have done horrible things, both have a lot of forgiveness and tolerance to learn if there will ever be peace in the middle east.
I think this quote from the 4th Israeli prime minister sums it up...
“We will have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us” Golda Meir
i also think it goes both ways. There is enough hate and anger to go around on both sides.

No, and common sense knows that Israel has the right to exist and free from constant attacks from the terrorists.Peace will be achieved when they accept Israel as a nation.

Jimmy Carter has lost all credibility with me and most of the American public. He would not stand up to Iran during his presidency and he takes their side now. Absolutely the worst president in modern era.
