I have an idea for a story deserving of a title as simple and straightforward as "Planet". In fact, I can't think of a more suitable title for it.
So, I was just wondering.

Amazon UK lists two novels with that title

"Planet" by JMG (link 1)
"Planet" by Sergio Bizzio (link 2)

I wouldn't let that bother you too much, there are plenty of books with the same title as another.

I decided to use Amazon to do my research. I cut down from 165,000+ to just over 17,000. So far, this is the latest literary piece with Planet in the title. Hold on...

Voodoo Planet (Hardcover)
by Andrew North
Publisher: IndyPublish (December 12, 2006)

The Planets (Hardcover)
by Dava Sobel
Publisher: Viking Adult (October 11, 2005)

Planet of Slums (Hardcover)
by Mike Davis
Publisher: Verso (March 1, 2006)

There is a Lonely Planet series, apparently. Something called The 12th Planet by Zecharia Sitchin, Vegan Planet (scary) - cookbook by Robin Robertson.

I don't know that you actually copyright a title (I may be wrong about this) as opposed to the actual piece/book, etc, as there are many songs and books with the same titles. I think you'd be safe. :)
