This is how I've been wearing it for years. I'll put it on, smudge it with a foam tip or with my finger, and apply a bit of mascara to the lower lashes as well as the upper. Someone told me recently that under-eye liner looks brutal and harsh a lot of the time and few people can pull it off. Is this true?

I do it in a variety of colours, too -- sometimes dark and bold, sometimes softer.

Also; I put it just at the lash line, not on the rim of the eye. Should it go on the rim of my eye? Because that looks kind of strange to me and also is kind of uncomfortable to apply.

Personally, I believe that is the best way to wear eyeliner under the eye rather than on top. When you put it on your eye lid it is harder to get it really close to the lashes, and if you do not get close enough to them, you are going to have a line of skin before the eye liner starts.

It depends on what look you're going for. Putting eyeliner on the top lid gives your eyes contrast, definition, and makes the eyes pop. When you put eyeliner on the top and bottom or on the bottom, the eyeliner overshadows the rest... but I'm guessing since you smudge it that you get a smoky eye look. But sometimes putting it just on the bottom gives your face a "goth" look, but like I said, it depends on what look you're going for. And it is true, many people cannot pull it off because of the shape of their eyes, and their complexion. I think if you're going for a subtle smoky eye than it's cool but i would do the top and the bottom but not to the point where you're looking like a raccoon or anything like that.

I usually wear my eyeliner under my eyes too..but i learned that putting something on the top usually makes it look better..so i either put a little eyeliner on the top (less than the bottom) or i put some dark eye shadow on the top. But if your wearing softer eye liner you could just put some softer eye shadow or eye liner on the top too..

I have done this for years myself. I make a very thin line right next to my lash line and then smudge it.
No one has ever made any comments about my makeup looking harsh.
Heck- now I am paranoid, nope I checked, it doesn't look all that dramatic on me really- If you like it wear it, just know that you are not alone.

NO WAY. Eyeliner under the eye is better than on top. Both is the best way to go!

I wear it on the lower lids too, I think it looks great and if I don't wear it people tell me that I look tired. I see alot of other women that wear it and they look good too. So I would say yes!!

I wear eyeliner under the eyes and on the lid. I guess it depends on how dark you wear it. I put it on lightly.

No, its completely normal. Sometimes if you have smaller eyes, black eyeliner makes your eyes look smaller if you have it all around your eyes, but not on the bottom. It just depends on the eye shape and size.
