That was brilliant on their part to pull away from Russia. Good for them if it's true. That will allow them to be on the Euro system now.

For several reasons.
It would have been very difficult (if not impossible) to join NATO if Estonia wouldn't have shown at least the will to join EU. Why would NATO want a country with it's poor geograpical position right next to Russia - who knows what they could think of. And Estonia couldn't put out exactly a great number of soldiers when needed.
To improve its economy - obviously.
Security - helping fight terrorism with free data movement.
Investments, not for money itself but what it could be used for (education, infrastructures etc).
More stable future. Since joining, more companies are investing and creating new jobs here.
The new student exchange programs.
The stability and (what is believed to be) secure future - the effect of which is illustrated by a higher number of births for instance.
There were probably some other matters, i'm not exactly an expert...

Som that the citizens of that country can become entitled to all the perks that is on offer within the EU and to benefit from migrating to so called "wealthier countries" cashing in on their relevant benefits

The main reason is that it fears its eastern neighbour - Russia and its economic future is guaranteed in the EU.

money because its a poor country it gets money from the EU and the opportunity for the ppl of the country to work
