I have read a lot of answers to various questions that suggest if a spouse cheated, they could be forgiven...even in the event of catching a disease including HIV.

What are your thoughts?? Would you forgive? Why or why not?

A person can be forgiven. But that doesn't mean forget. I may forgive a person for stealing my money when he/she visited me in my home. But I won't allow him /her to come over ever. This is being wise.

I would always have a posture of forgiving. This is for your own good.
Carrying bitterness around makes you old fast. It is stress. So forgive and move on.

Cheating is not widely accepted. Just because people are doing it doesn't make it right. This is being dishonest and disrespectful.
This breeds distrust.

If you were my wife lets say and you cheated on me and I found out. I could forgive you, but you will pay the consequences of your actions. I wouldn't trust you or believe what you say. It would take a long time to overcome that. So it is the same reason you wouldn't cheat on a test in school. You get caught you get an F. If you don't get caught ,then just remember not to complain when someone does that to you.

i would not forgive because i would never do that no matter how bad it gets so i don't exspect my husband to either the vows i said really meant the world to me and i would not break them and if he did that would be a deal breaker i can't even forgive for some words said much less sleeping with another woman i couldn't live with that everyday.People don't care about marriage and what it means anymore they just cheat or pack up and leave when things get tough.

I can't accept it. If it were a one time blunder against years of monogamy that is different and I feel forgivable.
It isn't the cheating as much as the lying. Then goes the trust, then goes the respect.

I agree with many of those who answered 'It's not widely accepted'. One thing you learn is that what the media reports and what actually happens are two different things. All of the talk shows with their stories are reporting about 'abnormal occurrences'. That is why we watch.

The bonds of husband and wife used to be stronger than iron, in today's society and moral ignorance, it means nothing.
HELL NO I wouldn't forgive!

No way. Cheaters are liars, (they would HAVE to be). And I cannot stand either.
