I believe it's Carl Perkins. A harbinger of rockabilly rock'n'roll style.
He was born in 1932 and died recently in 1998.
He wrote both words and music. The song was first recorded on Sun Records Label and Produced by Sam Phillips in 1955. It was (and still is:) ) immensely popular and was recorded but such artistis as: Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and of coarse who will ever forget Count von Count's version on Sesame Street:)

"Blue Suede Shoes" is a rock and roll standard written and first recorded by Carl Perkins in 1955.

Johnny Cash suggested the idea to Perkins based on an experience in the United States Air Force.

Elvis Presley recorded his version of this song in 1956, waiting until his friend Perkins' version had left the charts.
