Yes, I used to play it with my friends and primarily my family members. It's been YEARS since I've played a Monopoly game. That's when I think the only popular Monopoly sold was the standard American one, but I think they had the Canadian version too. I've won some games, but lost many! I don't remember how I won - it's been so long! I used to play it with my stepbrother and I would win once or twice, but most of the time he would win! Also, yes - the games would usually go on for hours! We usually stopped after about 2 or 3 hours - it can get very boring after awile - ESPECIALLY when you are losing! I think that's why one time when my stepbrother was losing, he goofed off and more or less swiped the stuff off of the board (not in anger though).

The winning strategy is to go for the Green and the Yellow. although Boardwalk and Parkplace are attractive properties, if you start throwing up hotels on Pennsyvlania Avenue, Marvin Gardens and vicinity, you will get most of the money flowing your way. You can acquire all 6 of these properties for about the same cost of Boardwalk and Parkplace. It's better to have 6 money makers, than 2.
Of course, if you just start buying any color... that makes the game go on a very, very long time.

I only lost if other players know each other and bargain among them only no matter how good my prices are - not really fair trade! Other than that I am always the 1 or 2. Sometimes 30 mins or can go up to 4 hrs. I play in 8 or 12 players game, it's fun since we brought our own icons!

Y e s. It was the first time in 35+ years of knowing my husband that I ever beat him at the game!!!!!!
We were doing a speed-play with our son, so limited to 1.5 hours.
I was able to get the two dark blue properties, just before "GO". (The names were changed because it was the Star Wars version, so...I couldn't be bothered to recall more than the colour) AND I got two other monopolies as well...
You are welcome. I like your surveys. Makes P&S look nice. LOL
