what is the proper way to take out the door panels on a 2002 honda civic lx coupe?

I used to own a 2002 Honda Civic EX Coupe. Here is what you do.

Where the plastic covering is behind the mirror, simply take a flathead and easily pry it off, it should pop fairly easily.

Then, pop the tab off behind the door lever with a flathead. There are two phillips screws behind that. The plastic around the door handle may now be removed by sliding it out. You can work it to fit through the hole made for it when you take the panel off, or you can just simply pop the small plastic tab on the metal bar inside that latches to the door handle. Either way, choice is yours.

Next pop the tab in the door tray (where you pull the door shut), there is another phillips screw in there as well.

Now take your flathead driver and pry the hard plastic that is on top of the door pull, surrounding the window switches and pry it up. Start from the back portion and work your way up. It should pop off and then slide out from the very front part.

Now disconnect the power to the switches by taking off the clip connector.

If you look at the open area now that you just pried off, you will see two gold/brass colored phillips screws. Remove these next.

Now the easy part, take your flathead to the lower rear corner of the door and slide it between the metal and the plastic door panel. Once you get a few to pop work your way on the bottom portion to the front. Now you can get both hands on the sides and pull gently until they pop as well. Then lift the whole door panel up so that it pops out of the lower window track.



Be careful when putting it back in, the hardest part is making sure you line up the unlock/lock button on the top rear of the door so it slides on smooth.
