We're going to see Bruins/Penguins. We already have seats (balcony) but I was wondering what we could do to get the most out of the whole experience. Please give suggestions! Thanks.

Get a felt marker and a BIG piece of bristol board and write:
"SPORTSCENTER IS NEXT!"
I GUARANTEE you'll be on ESPN!

Have fun!

Get there early like an hour before for the pre game skate. The players are on the ice warming up for about half an hour. It ends about half an hour before the game starts. They go back to the locker rooms and come back on for a 2 minute skate just before the puck drops.

It's too bad you are balcony for pregame skate. See if you can sneak down to the front for the warm up. There might not be security yet. If so, it is the closest you can get to the players when they might be stretching or standing near the glass.

After that, you have 20 to 30 minutes to go get beer and snacks and souvenirs and head to your seats. Walk around the concourse, people watch and absorb that environment.

If it is televised, bring a crafty worded sign that will get you on TV.

Go Again! Go often,

Penguins/Lightning - Seeing if the Penguins can take a strong hold on the series with out their superstar duo of Crosby/Malkin. 10 for obvious reasons. (I'm a Penguin fan) Sabres/Flyers - See if the defending eastern conference champions will prevail. 7, I'm not much of a Sabres fan but I kinda like the watch the Flyers. Rangers/Capitals - Watch Ovechkin, and see if the rangers can make it interesting. 8, I really only keep up with the Pen/TB series and this one.. Red Wings/ Coyotes - See if Detroit will pull off the only first round sweep of the season, and see if this is the last time we ever see the Coyotes again. 10 just because this may very well be Coyotes last game before becoming the Jets again Predators/Ducks - See if the Preds can take a stronghold and win their first playoff series ever. 6, All I care about is seeing the Ducks lose.

First of all, you are so lucky!! I would love to be in your place.

Watch everything! There is so much you miss on TV. Watch the puck, watch the players, watch the goalie (my favorite player to watch(I also am one)), watch the zebras (refs) (um, don't call them that, kay?), watch the coach on the bench, watch the players on the bench. Watch everything you can. I sometimes find myself just staring at the bench day dreaming about playing.

Yell! Dance when the music comes on (last time I went to a game I didn't dance, and now I regret it), even if you don't know the song or if you don't like it dance. When the play is stopped and they have music on and are saying scream, scream, if they are looking for the best dance, dance! What ever they want, do it. When they throw t-shirts, get up and yell for one even if you know you are out of range.

Tip- If you have to go to the bathroom, go right after the period or right before it is going to start because lines get bad and you do not want to miss any of the game. And run, girl, get to that bathroom.

Wear: Team colors, something warm (not too warm because you will get warm jumping up and down screaming) If you have a jersey that would be great over a long sleeve shirt.
Don't wear anything expense(except the jersey), no big expensive jewerly or clothes because you are going to a hockey game not a ball.

Ah, dang, I just forgot, I won't get to watch the game tonight. I have to go to class, darn.

Just go and have fun. Scream, smile, laugh, dance, watch. Do it all. Oh, and think of me while you are there. I wish I could be there so badly.

Have a blast!!

1. Get there early, that way you can get a program, shop for souvenirs, watch the players warm up, grab hot dogs/beer/whatever.

2. Try to familiarize yourself with the rules: icing and offside especially can be confusing at first. Ask your date or ask us.

3. Don't just follow the puck. Watch how and when the Goalie comes out of the net to get a loose puck or cut down the angle, the defenseman and forwards battling for "rights" in front of the net. And especially......

4. Watch what players do WITHOUT the puck, where they position themselves, the biggest difference between the NHL and the minor leagues. Watch how they try to anticipate what will happen and when they get it right (they get the puck) or wrong (an out-numbered attack happens).

5. Take a radio, tune it to the station they are broadcasting the game on. It will help you a lot, the broadcast will tell you what just happened, why play stopped.

6.. Ask lots of questions when you don't understand something, don't be shy! I will be glad to answer them and I think I speak for everyone in this section at Yahoo Answers. Welcome to the best sport in the world!

Try to get there early. Maybe 2 hours before the game starts, so that you could try to get autographs. NHL players are some of the best athletes to ask for autographs. If you can get autographs, you will get the most out of your experience. Also, bring a camera. Also, bring a marker and an item that is good for autographs. I hope you find it helpful. Enjoy the game.

Keep your eyes open. There is no sport that happens as fast as hockey does.

If you have never watched hockey or don't know the rules, be prepared to be confused. I'd recommend asking questions during breaks in the game, or you will drive your friend crazy.

Be prepared to be enthralled. When my wife went to her first NHL game, she was howling for blood by the end of the 2nd period, she was so excited by the speed and grace of the game.

Well first of all dress warm. If you are old enough to drink have a beer it is just apart of the experience. Also get some of the food they sell there, it is a bit expensive but ads to your time there. If you are going with friends just scream and cheer for your team. If your going with your bf ask him questions or kiss him every time either team scores. If he knows stuff about the game ask him. It will enhance your fun if you know whats going on. Lots of screaming and cheering. Talk to people around you ask them questions. Have fun be open to whatever goes on.

Watch the action away from the puck in addition to what's happening near the puck. You don't get to see that on TV. Watch the defensemen and how they quickly shift from going forward and playing offense to moving backward and playing defense as the puck moves.

Just have fun! Enjoy the atmosphere, the food and the company you are with. Keep your eye on the puck and I hope your team wins!
