My question is...I get bacterial vaginosis every month right before my period and it's killing me...i went to the doctor...got flagyl...but it came back the next month before my period...the doctor said that it has something to do with my ph balance right before my monthly...I wanna know if there is something I could do to keep my ph balance normal so i can stop getting this annoying thing.

One of the reasons acidophilus supplements might not work for you is that the beneficial bacteria may get destroyed by your stomach acids, and don't end up where they need to be.
There are two products I've heard of which is supposed to help:
Gy-natren - an acidophilus product designed for women's health. It claims to contain a super-strain that produces hydrogen peroxide. It contains two sets of pills - one to take orally, and one to insert vaginally. I've seen this sold at Whole Foods.
Fem-dophilus - it's a form of acidophilus pills, but they've isolated two strains of lactobacilli which specifically work best in the vagina, and are designed to survive digestion. I haven't found it at any store, but you can buy it online.
Rephresh - it's a gel that you insert vaginally once every 4 days. It's supposed to help balance the pH level. It can be found at your local drugstore.
Good luck.

That sounds like a question for your doctor. You might need to use flagyl every month if your body chemistry is funky, or there might be something else you can do. Also, eat lots of yogurt. It had good bacteria in it that help keep your body normal.

Are you on hormonal contraceptives? This could be causing the problem.
Or are you douching? This will upset ALL sorts of things in the vaginal canal, not just pH, but natural bacteria that are needed to keep things in check.
Are you eating a diet high in acids? Taking supplements?
Maybe you might consider switching docs...

I've had it once or twice, and my doctor said he has some patients who have to take flagyl or ketoconazole every month, or several times a year. He says some people are prone to it.
Not sure what you can do to affect your pH really.

Go back to your doctor and explain why you're not satisfied with the treatment that you received. If this is your family doctor, then ask to be referred to a GYN. If this is your GYN, then go back to your family doctor and say you want a second opinion.
