My ex had a case last year for indirectly killing someone DUI. I don't know what the sentence was, I was out of the country when it all happened. He had been saying maybe he'd just get house arrest. I don't even know what that is, and I let some time pass, but I know his email address is now gone, so clearly I can't contact him. Is there any way I can find out what happened to him? All I know is the date of his final appeal case and the date on which the incident happened.

I care because I've known him since 1st grade. It's in Denver, CO. I don't know how to look up anything, not even court records that the case happened...but so that means it's not published anywhere what the verdict was?

Call the court and ask. Al convictions are a matter of public record.

What state is he in? That would have been helpful. But manual research is still available, you can contact the Department of Corrections in the state he is imprisoned. They can tell you the earliest release date for your ex. Get the website from whoever you talk to and then you can even look at his face, read his convictions and other information.
You may even be able to contact the court that found him guilty and ask them what the sentence was that the court passed down, he's an adult... it's public record.

Unless you have children in common with this man, then realize that criminal cases are NOT public record. What you were able to find is the only record the court will allow you to see. You are NOT his spouse and therefore not entitled to the information.

If you do have children in common, contact a criminal attorney and they should be able to help you access pertinent information.

I would call his parents on an update. You can also call the court he was to appear.

By the way, killing someone is never indirectly done. Your ex made a decision to drive drunk and unfortunately someone got killed for his stupidity.

Good luck.

Do you know the town he lives in? How about a family member? You can talk to one of them. House arrest is when he can't leave home except to work and/or go to counseling. And I think he has to wear one of those ankle monitors. Good luck.
