I've been thinking about being a cartoonist (making a comic strip) for the past three years and I have the imagination, dedication, and humor. I don't have any supplies though (everything I draw has been on notepads with a pencil or on a computer). So what supplies would I need and where would I go to get them?

P.S. In case you're wondering I'm not really focused on getting anything syndicated right now, just doing this as a hobby.

Well, i draw a lot of manga and i find that the best stuff to use is and
HB pencil, (mechanical or just normal),
A good rubber that doesnt smudge
A black liner pen (something like a faber castell, PITT artist pen; They come in thick and thin and inbetween)
For coloring, you could use normal colouring pencils, felt tip pens, or these great things called letraset promarkers or copic markers! Theyre fantastic and blend amazingly!)

Happy Drawing!

Basically, you need a way to render your art, either electronic or traditional paper. Then you need some way to transfer those images to wherever they get published. Many people publish online web toons - it's a lot harder to make money at it but very easy to do, assuming you're reasonably computer savvy. If you want to stay with pencil and paper, you can find pretty much everything you need at any decent art store, and many of the more common supplies at your average large department store (like WalMart). There's no way to know *exactly* what you need without knowing what style of drawings you want to make and how fussy you are about materials. (Personally I use mechanical pencils on typing paper then overink with a fine-point ballpoint pen; but it's crap I never intend to publish too.)
