It happens all the time, but that doesn't make it right. Life is too short to be in a bad relationship. The decision is yours and your spouses, nobody else.

I stayed with my ex husband for 18 years. It had a lot to do with the way I was raised and the values that were instilled in me. My grandmother used to tell me, "You make your bed, you lie in it" I was afraid I was committing the ultimate sin by getting a divorce. Thankfully, we did get divorced nearly 6 years ago. My life improved tremendously once he was gone. It's not easy being a single mom and doing the work of two but it's done with great love and a much nicer atmosphere. I also rediscovered myself after he was gone. It's amazing how much you give up sometimes, not even realizing it. It's important to have someone that encourages and supports you and loves you than someone who stifles you and puts walls up in front of you. Best wishes.

Yes . My parents thought he was a saint but really he was an abusive monster. I never told anyone and I stayed for six years until my friend who is now my wonderful husband helped me leave. I was a disgrace for awhile until the truth came out. That's what secrets and others opinions can do. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

I stayed with my ex for 14 years based on what I thought my
family would say and how they believed that your suppose to
stay together for the good of the children and I lived in hell for
14 long years. He cheated on me time after time and I lived my
life totally for my kids. After 14 years of marriage I divorced him
and learned what a wonderful fulfilling life could be like with
someone I loved and loved me in return. To my surprise my
family was supportive. They also said I should have left long before I did because life is to short to be miserable. If your family
is true "FAMILY MEMBERS" they will want the best for you and
want you to be happy regardless of their beliefs and reputations

No. Who cares what your family might think or say. It is your life. I would say listen to what they have to say and then do what you think is right. But they shouldn't give advice unless you ask.In the long run everyone pays for their own mistakes. And your family could be wrong. Did they consult you before they made decisions ?

If you have to ask this question of strangers, I think you should seriously consider ignoring anything your family has to think or say and do what you feel that you have to do. It won't be easy, but you have to do what is right for you. Eventually, your family will come around to your side but until then, who needs them if they can't support your decision as to what is right for you.

why would you be concerned about what other people may say or thing about your relationships? what kind of leeway do they hold over it? what kind of power do they have? none. YOU have to be happy in your relationships. if you are not happy then you need to find a way to fix it. don't live your life for anyone except for yourself.
