We broke up a week ago and we still act like we together, but as real close friends, but anyways...I was on the phone telling him how I had nothing to live for and how depressed I was about my miscarraige from a year ago and abortion two years ago. He then offered to get me pregnant saying that he wants a little boy cause he already has a little girl who means the world to him. I told him no thank you, but now I'm reconsidering...should I take him up on his offer? he's really a great great guy and we get along well, just better as friends.

Don't do it! If you want to have kids, that's great, but kids need a mother and a father in the house married to each other for the environment. If you look at any studies about kids that are the most well adjusted, they come from homes where mom and dad are married and love each other. Mom and dad in the same home would be the next best thing.

No, a baby will NOT cure your depression. A baby also deserves a COMPLETE family. Mom and dad. the baby is not your therapist and it will not solve your problems. Move on. This is a desperate attempt to cling to a relationship that's already over. Allow yourself the opportunity to meet the right man and then one day when you are truly ready, you can start a family and give your child a good life.

why would you want to get pregnant outside of marriage? and with a man with whom you are "just friends"? Having a baby isn't like getting a new puppy. you are bringing a new human being into the world. do you want to spend the rest of your life with this man? a child deserves more than what you can give right now. You need to be in a stable lasting relationship with someone you know will be by your side forever. Please rethink this, for your sake and his.

First you need to work on your depression get that under control first. Then get stable and when you have it all under control and want a child then ask this question. Babies are not a cure for depression. Babies are not a reason to get married. You need to be in a relationship that can withstand anything before you bring a child in the mix. I say no not at this time.

Drop him, in my eyes he seems to be nothing but selfish. He wants to use (or abuse) you as a breeding machine for the son he wants to have. What happens if it should be a girl? He will be disappointed, and you'll have to suffer.
You can try to keep him as a friend, if you wish, but perhaps he will not be too keen on that after you've told him you don't want to get pregnant by him.

lord it sounds like he needs to grow up some. Just because he has a girl isnt a reason to try for a boy.

Don't do it.Just sounds like a big mess waiting to happen.Plus you should not make big decisions like having a baby when you are depressed or going through a hard time.

Dear God. Why doesnt the government have some sort of system of requirements for people before theyre granted permission to copulate?

I'd honestly and truthfully pay taxes for such a program.

can you afford a baby? are you wanting a baby for the right reasons?

there is no right or wrong relationship in which to concieve. If you are truely sure its what you want, i see no reason to not to.... but think real hard about it first, maybe you should discuss this with councilor of some kind first... good luck

Don't do it. Run, don't walk, away from him. Any guy you don't want to be in a relationship with is also someone you don't want to make a baby with.
