♡There are many types of this service available in Japan. You have companies that send over a 'small crew' of women (2 or 3) to clean up your whole place in a few hours for a set fee. Everything from the windows, floors and bathrooms... Fast and efficient. They bring all their own supplies. (You can usually find these ads in the Sunday paper.)
There are also companies that provide various help/maid services. Take a look at this site as an example:
http://www.chezvous.co.jp/e/index.html
Everything from cooking to childcare.
(*I have never used this↑ service personally.)
So yes, it's available.
Hope this helps!
Have a safe and good move to Tokyo!♡
I love it here!(*^o^*)

Yes, there are domestic helps/maids in Tokyo..I am not familiar about the process though.
From what I've heard it is not about being rich that you can hire one but how it would be an advantage and there are steps you have to follow having one in the house like sponsorships, etc.

Are you going to be a maid ? Or will you need a maid ? And how much Japanese do you know ? A person who works as a helper is not likely to be educated and won't know much English. People just can't move to Japan like they would move from LA to NYC...If you plan on working in Japan, you need a work visa FIRST. And to get a work visa you must have a job waiting for you. It's not an easy country to move to.

Yes, there are cleaning services that cater to expats. In a Japanese family, the lady of the house usually does the housework even if they have lots of money, but there are outfits that dispatch maids. They can send you someone who speaks English well enough for the job to get done the way you want. When I lived there I found a neighbourhood women who cleaned my place for a very reasonable price and thus cut out the middleman.
