People lie to misrepresent the facts and there are three reasons for doing so:

A. FEAR: They are afraid of the consequences of their actions.

B. EGO: They want others to value them more than their worth.

C. CHEAT: To make profit by misrepresentation in business ans in personal relations.

1. Cowardice. People lie to avoid a confrontation or argument. e.g. I didn't tell her that because I knew she'd go crazy or throw me out etc. People also pretend they're sick rather than have to ask their boss for the day off.

2. Image. People lie to make themselves look better and to conceal less favorable things about themselves. e.g saying money's no object to me when you can barely afford to pay the rent, or pretending you've traveled places that you've never been.

3. Embarrassment. People often lie because the truth is embarrassing. e.g. It's easier to say I just went to check the mail that to say I had to run out to buy tampons! It's earier to say I can't go out with you because I have a headache instead of saying I'm completely broke and can't afford to step out the door.

Q: If someone tells you he's a liar do you believe him?????

3) To avoid making somebody else feel bad (the root reason could be the same as #1).

Number 1-No class{they try to make themselves look smarter}
Number 2-No idea{They don't have a clue so they make one up}
Number 3-No control{Every time their lips move out pops a lie}

1) Fear that the truth will get them in trouble.
2) Don't want to hurt someone's feelings.
3) Don't want to be responsible emotionally for whatever is being lied about.

1-Being lazy about something, then being caught about not doing something and lying as a cover up.

2-Lying out of fear of consequences.

3-To keep others feelings. (White Lie)
