Almost all medical people will tell you that weed and booze are both very harmfull to your brain box.
We already have 'health' warnings on cigs "smoking his cig will likely kill you" Do you think that maybe this is to cover the ar*e of the manufactuere in case some ones family sues or a genuine health warning put out by the Govt' to reduce their tax revenue? If you dare venture into a supermarket to buy a can of beans and read the label you will find these beans are riddled with 'glycohydrofluctuants' ! God only knows what that means but I'm sure it could damage your brain box?
So dont eat them! If you think booze or weed damages your brain it probably will ! If you really think a voodo spell will harm you, chances are it probably will.
I think (not as a qualified medical pratitioner) that all things are OK if used in moderation.
Just a footnote here about mental health ! A very very clever guy who was an 'expert' on the subject of mental health (around the time of Queen Victoria) conducted some experiments on mental home inmates, he discovered that almost all of them masturbated, and drew the conclusion that this habit sent folk around the bend,( turned them into nutters)! Hence the idea that is still planted in some folks mind! Dont recall where the 'hairy hands ' thing came from!
What he didnt take into account was the fact that 90% of people outside the mental home also masturbated!!

Depends on how it is measured. Weed is used by less people than alcohol, so in a pure numbers game more people are drunk than stoned. Weed has a physical addiction rate of about 4%, Alcohol is about 5%. As a mental health/addicitons counselor I see more Alcohol dependent folks, but if you look at the damage to an indiviudal both are equally damaging to the addict. Incoming auditory memory is lost to a greater degree by cannabis use than alcohol. Personally weighing in all the risk factors to an indivduals health, weed carries a greater risk to an individual than alcohol.

I'll say weed. Not because I can prove its more harmful, but because alcoholic drinks are supervised to pass a certain sanitary level. Weed on the other hand, you can never know when you'll get a bad batch and mess you up (in the bad way, not the way you paid for).

Its the desire to actually use either substance that's harmful. Why is there such a need to douse ones brain in liquor; or smoke ones self into a drugged stupor? What does either accomplish?
If you believe you're "getting away from it all" you're only kidding yourself. In reality, you are only beginning down a dark road that ends in the dregs of the soul.

Drink is actually good for your health. This is due to the fact that you experience yourself in the most pissed-up light which can only b a good thing. Weed is good for less habitual use othawise it can make you proper crazy and ting

I've seen alcohol do more damage than weed. Not to say weed never hurts. I know a lot of people who have lost motivation with chronic pot smoking. I've also known fully functioning people who smoke it on a regular basis.

Weed is strongly linked to an increased chance of developing mental illness such as paranoid schizophrenia. There is also an increased risk of lung cancer if you smoke it (the usual procedure is to mix it with tobacco and weed - it often comes that way when you buy - whether you know it or not - has been found to make the cancer-causing effects of tobacco worse. It is also more carcinogenic than tobacco on its own).
Alcohol can damage your liver in the long term if taken in excessive quantities.
In the short term both drugs cause mental impairement such as reduced reaction speeds and poor judgement which can seriously damage your health if, for example, you are driving.
[also note how smoking weed makes people think that it does them no harm so they vote answers like mine with a thumbs down. Not believing medical evidence is another symptom of excessive use of cannabis]

Weed is most harmful for mental health, not to mention destroying yout lungs. It makes you lazy and unmotivated.
Drinking is the worst over pot. It will scar your liver and damage other organs.

I think GLH has been smoking something. I've never seen anyone mix tobacco with marijuana. I would also like to see a cite for the claim that marijuana use is linked "strongly" to paranoid schizophrenia.
