Ok here's my advice. Tranferring mp3s via USB hardly ever works. pop into any tech store and buy a memory card reader. They retail for approx £10 and usually take most formats of available memory cards. Once it's plugged into your USB port it's a simple case of drag and drop your music into the memory card. Your PC will see it as an external harddrive. It's the easiest way and at least if you go to a friend's house, take it with you and copy their songs directly onto your card.

1st of all install the nokia pcsuite. then connect your phone, the usb should recognise the phone it will bring a message up saying Nokia 6280 connected by usb. Within pcsuite there should be an application called Nokia Music Manager.Select transfer music , on the top left hand side it will say files, select scan pc files and any music you have on your pc will appear. Select the tracks by ticking the boxes and select transfer to phone. You can see the tracks transferring at the bottom of the screen. And the tracks should then appear on your phone.

go to: http://www.nokiausa.com/support/pcsuite/download.html
Download the software (Nokia PC Suite) that you see on that link; install it on your PC. Restart your computer, now plug in the data cable n your PC then n your Phone. The phone will prompt you to select a Mode, SELECT DEFAULT MODE or PC SUITE (can't recall which one was on the 6280). Wait about 2 -3 minutes for Windows to install the drivers. After Windows prompts you that your new hardware is ready to use, click on the icon that resembles a phone (it should be blue and it's located down by your clock). Click on Transfer Music and should be pretty straight forward from here. Remember to ONLY store the files on your memory card NOT onto the phone memory.!
