Your stereotyping, not all young Black Americans blame their misfortunes on slavery. The ones that do obviously either have dealt with racism or they are just lazy people that don't want to take credit for the their own actions.

over 150 years ??? I am not a black American but everyone knows about Segregation ...It was not that long ago .Little Rock arkansa in the 50's the army had to be called in to inforce letting black children go to the school as some whites were mean and nasty and hurling insluts . Look at many of yahoo answers on here! People have been raised by thier parents to still have some of that hatred they were raised with ...The only way to abolish it ...is people trying to forget this traversity was done to other human beings and have more understanding for what they went through and begin to be open minded so the wounds of hate can heal ...
By the way their is many successful black and I don't hear them complaining about misfortunes .....Maybe the poorer ones do just like I hear poorer whites complain that it is due to blacks that they are misfortuned as well ...

Slavery may have been abolished 150 years ago, but racism still exists. Within our life times (depending how old you are) many places in the US had separate bathrooms, drinking fountains, schools, seating areas in public transportation. Many large cities still have very segregated populations, with vast differences in the availability of quality education, crime, and jobs.

In my entire life I have never met an african american who blamed their problems on slavery. I think your questions exhibits a lack of understanding and sensitivity towards the troubles faced by todays poor. It would do you some good to volunteer at an inner-city school and see what real problems are.

Unfortunately it is the downstream effect of the Civil War Propaganda machine that was not corrected after the war was over. Like after WW II, the US gov't had to take out adds promoting Japanese and German goods in order to get their economies started back up. They never corrected the incorrect stories. many people today think that all Southerners had black slaves, and mistreated them, and the Northerners did not. They don't know that in the Confederate constitution that slavery was to be abolished on the same date as in the Union. They don't know about all the white slaves in this country in 1776.
Its too easy to keep a lie alive if it gets you something.

in slavery the men were not allowed to take care of their women. and the women raised their kids on their own.

Black women have passed down through generations the idea that they dont need a man to raise a child, and throughout generations black men have decided not to take responsibility for their kids. if you look at black cultures in Africa this is not how the families are raised. The reprocuctions will go on forever cause a man with no father finds it dificult to raise his son right.

you can see the results of slavery today.

you can see the way that blacks were bred as cattle in th NBA and NFL.

Do you really not see how these things have and effect on the world today?

There are shallow, tacky human beings from all cultures. The ghettofabulous stereotype is spread by the media like rap video clips and television sitcoms and a tremendous type of yankee black women folk discover it really offensive. i'm no longer holding the stereotype completely got here out of nowhere besides the undeniable fact that it truly is been concentrated on and portrayed, to the exclusion of alternative pictures of Black lady form and habit As for speech, some British black women (and boys too obviously) whose ancestres were enslaved in former British colonies like Jamaica etc. talk with a West Indian dialect - -some very a lot so, even as others do not talk like that in any respect, and - - a twin of in u . s . - -there are various degree of use of vernacular. some have African accents if it truly is the position they are from. "Ebonics" is a goofy sounding word and many linguistics human beings might want to choose words like "African American Vernacular English" . even besides the undeniable fact that i'm 0.5 African American I used to imagine it it became only sloppy English, even with the reality that it became very expressive and has been used culturally in very ingenious methods in literature etc. Then I study a piece of writing by a linguistics specialist that defined how this dialect which shared similarities with African languages and West Indian creole languages, has complicated guidelines for pronunciation and grammar, . i idea about how human beings I knew spoke, and that i began noticing and realised the article became ideal. i do not mean that human beings ought to no longer study universal version of the language for the rustic they are in besides the undeniable fact that it gave me a distinct perspective on it

While there are some effects of slavery that still exist today, we have in our day and time the laws, opportunity, and access to information to break the legacy of ignorance slavery has produced--in both black and white cultures.

Your question leads me to think that you are a product of this ignorant legacy and dont realized how dumb your question makes you look.

It's easier to blame their failings on slavery and institutionalized racism, than to get off their backsides and support all their illegitimate children. I think in the long run, most people just give up and come to the realization that they're a failed race.

SHUT UP!!!

Look up black American history from1862 up to 1990 and tell me if it was freedom when we were barred from areas, lynched at will, had churches bombed because we advocated for VOTING our right as US citizens. Our children were attacked by dogs and hoses for trying to go to SCHOOL!!!!

Grow up and read before you write on this issue!!!!

It's an excuse for our woes, but not an adequate one.
I don't blame slavery for our woes now. It's been so long.
