My doctor asked about my kid and I said he'll be three tomorrow and he asked if he's developed his own little personality, and I said, "yes," but I don't think crying and screaming is a personality, so maybe it's my fault? If I don't have a personality, could my kid still acquire one on his own? What can I do?

A personality is the overal general pattern of our way of thinking, talking and behaving. Not so much what we do but how we do it.

Every person has a totally unique personality. There is no such thing as a "proper" personality.

It takes decades to fully develop your personality. At the age of 3, a child has only begun this process. So don't worry about it.

What can you do? That's the easy part. Give him unconditional love. Appreciate him. Give him chances to experience life challenges at his own level as he gets older, give him support, but allow him to make mistakes and achieve on his own. Encourage him to play and make friends. If you do all that, believe me, kids pretty much take it from there.

Your personality is the way you react to different stimulus based on what you have learned throughout your life.
Kicking and screaming are not a personality, but a part of it. Seeing how he is three years old, the kicking and screaming seems like a natural (but rather annoying) expression until he learns a better way to communicate.
A person cannot lack a personality, but rather can have personalities that are seen as good or bad (according to society).
What you do is raise your kid as best you can... yeah, thats it.

Uh... I don't know. I believe that babies are born with a personality. I don't think that is something that can be learned. The environment helps shape someone's personality, but I feel that everyone is born with some kind of unique personality. If you are boring, it might rub off on your kid. Do you play with him? Interact with him and show him what fun is... I loved being thrown onto the sofa over and over again, and playing with Matchbox cars.

And everyone has a personality. It's not really something you can control. You can control your behavior but not your personality.
