When Shocker deals damage to a player they discard their hand and draw that many cards. When Hypnotic Specter deals combat damage to a player they discard a card at random. It probably doesn't matter much, but which effect happens first? I have a bad feeling that Cynthia's going to give me a great answer.

The effects are put on the stack at the same time but the turn player decides which will resolve first. Note: Once these effects are on the stack you can't increase or decrease the power of the attacking creatures anymore. This is because damage has to be put on the stack before the effects can be applied.

They both go off at the same time so it doesn't matter which happens first. If you have megrim out they take the same amount of damage for it. If you had to chose which goes off first then use the barbed shocker first to make them discard their hand and draw that many more then discard a card at random from the hippy specter.

Cynthia is right.you choose which resolves first.i love abusing the stack SOOOO much.
