Thank you Southern, we look like a bunch of high tech morons now. I'm under the impression the ones that didn't hate us for comeing there hate us now for staying there. Per say, if an Iraqie was here telling me I can't go back to my neighborhood yes I would tie a bomb to myself and run straight into the middle of them. Friend today and your executioner tommorrow.

Weak minded perhaps, weak militarilly, never.
I don't believe we look incompetent right now. We look divided. There is a saying, 'United We Stand, Divided We Fall'. The only people worldwide that aren't paying attention to that statement are Americans. Our enemies see it and they are patiently waiting for us to implode. That is a weakness on our part. Decades ago what you see occuring in the United States would never have happened.
It isn't that we can't control a situation, it is that we attempted to let Iraq control the situation and they are not capable of that. Not yet. We need to take control back for the time being. Hopefully that is about to change. Hopefully our men and women in uniform are going to be "unleashed" to do what they do best. Win.

Well we'd look "weak" in the sense that it seems we don't stick to our guns no matter what. It looks "weak" that we wouldn't stubbornly hold on to a problem we caused and would run away from difficulty with our tail between our legs. I'm sure the thinking is something like that.
I think it's a load of crap though, and we are looking like the complete and utter obdurate morons the world already thinks we are. We are not handling the situation with anything remotely resembling tact or intelligence, we are not even aware of the cultural differences contrasting the new government we're trying to force on them. We are very clumsily going about it, without even knowing the difference between a Shi'ia and Sunni (spelling?)
It would seem to me more "manly" to admit our mistakes and have a tactful withdrawal. We did it with Vietnam and nobody considered us particularly weak then. It would not motivate terrorists against us, and would probably make them celebrate our disappearance and even like us a bit more for it. In their religion muslims should deal with muslim affairs, not "infidels." In their belief, being guided or led by nonbelievers is an affront to their god.

How we will be viewed I guess depends on who's looking. Ya know? Its hard for us Americans to see how the rest of the world views us if we dont understand a lot that happens everywhere else. I think nobody will say we are cowards,I think that most people over there think we are bullies, and I heard something about fighting American Emperiallism. I always was led to believe everyone thought we were heros and that we were looked up to. I really think i was brainwashed by our government, because it seems to me everyone dislikes us no matter what. I wish that we were like neutral countries and minded our own matters. We have so many problems here. How we gonna save the world when we cant even save our own? Ya know?

We don't base our militarial decisions based on how we 'look'. If we did, we wouldn't be in a war in the first place. We base it on what happens if we DO leave.
1.) We will leave Iraq and it's army in the middle of a fight they surely can't handle. It'd become Iran II. It's like picking up furnature. You can manage lifting a chair with 2 people, but if one person lets go the other person wouldn't be able to hold it.
2.) Every ounce of blood, sweat, and tears shed for this war would be worth nothing. Our troops died in the name of democracy, not in the name of better poll numbers.

It depends on where we go. If we bring them all home then it will be bad. If we redeploy them on the mission of hunting terrorists where ever they may be, (Iran or Saudi Arabia for example) then we will not be seen as weak. However, with the close relationship between GWB and the Saudis I don't see us doing that. GWB's private agenda is what's bad for America not the war or the pursuit of terrorists.

Let's see. We go in to change their form of government and better their way of life. But, along the way, a bunch of thugs (read insurgents) decide they don't want that, so they fight us.
We decide to leave. Thugs win by default (celebrating and becoming more brazen) and the very people we aimed to help resent us because we left them high and dry.
Consider this as well. Prior to our invasion, how much did we really hear in our western news media about daily life in Iraq? Not a whole lot. So, while it may not have been as chaotic, it sure wasn't free in the sense that dissenters and opponents (whether real or imagined in Saddam's mind) were brutally oppressed.

We will be viewed as weak mainly because we would have not been able to stop the terrorists in Iraq, even more so we would be viewed weak by past examples, such as during Clinton's term, where when he put in a half-hearted effort and then pulled out, Osama himself said-"I have seen the weakness and cowardice of the U.S.
The same here, plus if we pull out now, we will simply be back in the next decade or two.
Tired of swatting flies, we need to finish this.

Not weak in a military sense, just lacking foresight as everyone else in the world saw the chaos coming from miles off!
