Unlikely, for several reasons -- you'd have to take into account why each animal was put down before feeding it to another animal, to minimize the risk of spreading disease or foreign substances into the zoo population. Add to that the fact that there is an emotional factor involved -- if the former owner found out that Fluffy wasn't cremated but rather thrown into a cage with hungry tigers, someone just MIGHT complain. Typically, animals that have been put down are treated as biomedical waste and incinerated.

No. Honestly, that's pretty ridiculous. The state has regulations on how animals in the zoo are kept and fed. The zoo buys special food for all their animals-many resemble dog food in that they are pellet-shaped. You can sometimes see the employees feed the animals, and it would be completely illegal if they were feeding them dog carcasses. And since the dogs were given a lethal injection before death-pentobarbital (gracias, Wikipedia)their bodies might actually be too toxic to eat. Therefore, the dog shelter would /never/ send over or donate dead animals for the purpouse of tiger/lion food. :)

Dogs and cats are primarily carnivores, the foods that are feed to carnivores are usually herbivores or animals that are vegetarian. So I don't think the zoo would use dogs or cats to feed their lions or tigers. They do sometimes use deer that are hit on roads and are donated by the department of wildlife.

doubt that, the animals at the zoo have a specific diet and probably would get sick.

It would be natural. What would be wrong with that? If anyone would be doing anything wrong, it would be the people who abandon the animals, or worse the breeders and puppy mills.
