My husband and I are trying for a baby, I am a week late, and i am usually regular. I have felt sick, and very tired, and my boobs have been sensitive, but I have done three pregnancy tests all of which have been negative! I went to my doctor and he said he did not think I was pregnant because the tests are normally very reliable? Has anyone got any advice to help me, I don't mind if I am or not, because its only our first month of trying.

I came off the contraceptive pill in October and have had three regular 28 day cycles since. However my brother died a month ago and I have been really upset so could the stress just be preventing my period?

Thank you everyone! Its all really confusing isn't it. I don't mind if I am pregnant or not but I want to know if I am because I am supposed to be going to a health Spa on Sunday and they asked me whether I might be pregnant, not sure what to say? and don't want to do anything to harm my baby if i was pregnant. Please advise!

Home pregancy tests are quite reliable, around 99% if used correctly. If you took 3 of them and they were all negative, it is unlikely you are pregnant.

If you have been feeling sick, that could delay your menses.

If this is your first month trying, what forms of birth control were you using prior? If you were on the pill, that would explain why you were regular. Some other forms of birth control can make it difficult to conceive for a while.

The only really reliable test is a blood test. Your OB/GYN can administer one and get you results within a day in most cases. He probably didn't because after 3 tests, he figured to save you the expense and wait another month.

Be patient. Even with two perfectly healthy people trying to conceive with no fertility problems who are actively trying, the odds of pregnancy are only about 20% each cycle.

You could be. My friend had a 7 month old baby and was late by a week. She took 12 tests over a month and all were negative and she decided after that scare condoms were not enough at her appointment to get birth control a blood test showed she was a 3 months pregnant.

I'd definitely get a blood work done. I once had SIX of those tests which came back positive and there was no way on earth I could have been pregnant... what started out as a routine hospital exam turned really, really weird when they told me I had to have been pregnant while they waited on the blood.
